What's happening at Norton? Sale to TVS, massive investment, new bikes...

Good on yer FE - bit of a shock though; you were firmly in the ‘no camp’! Serious concerns that the primary was still too noisy for your liking - fare enough.

A great deal’s a great deal though!👍
I was a firm no. But the bastards done me by offering a deal on the LE range!

I’ve searched as many videos as I can and the conclusion seems to be that the primaries aren’t as loud as my old one. If it is, I’ll be well pissed!

I couldn’t decide between a Manx and a Transatlantic, a Manx wudda been nice to park next to my Manx ! But there were no Manxes in SP spec (ie with handle bars) so I went for the last Transatlantic SP in the country.

Nice looker:

Agreed - sweet lookin’ machine! Prefer it to the Manx - that whole disjointed tank thing. Although you prefer the black forks, I think the Goldie’s look right on that bike. I’d be all over one of these if in the UK!

Careful it doesn’t fall into the ‘keeper’ bracket though - who knows what any of will be doing in 2 years+ time!

Good buy - congrats!😀👍

Blimey, we’re in grave danger of agreement here

I agree about the overall looks of the Manx and the Transatlantic, but I’d have still had a Manx given the choice. I think !

And I agree that the Transatlantic carries its gold forks better than the others. I might even be able to live with them… Just… Perhaps. I’ve just got a thing about gold forks and I’m fed up of seeing them on everything, everywhere, all of the time !! I’ll probably have to paint the fork bottoms / caliper mounts black though.

As to whether it’s a keeper, I have no thoughts on that at present. The way I see it, it will go one of three ways:

1) Its so good and endearing that it worms its way into my thoughts as a keeper.
2) I have two enjoyable years and am happy to move on to something else at the end.
3) I’m sick to the back teeth with the POS and am counting the days until it’s finally gone.

Only time will tell !

I love it, but the thing that but me about the Transatlantic is the position of the Norton logo. Why didn’t they do it on the white centre stripe. I think it looks a bit odd where it is. Also the gold pinstripe on the side panels doesn’t really gel with the overall colour scheme IMHO.

(Still a bloody nice looker though).

I hadn’t bloody thought about the bloody logo position till you bloody chimed in !

Def agree about the gold pinstripes tho . Bit too bling. Actually been wondrin what they look like overlaid with red or blue …?

Have to disagree Cliff. Logo looks fine there for me - viewed from standing height with bike on side stand; shifted up slightly to accommodate the stripes. Would’ve looked too low on centre of the white stripe I think. Also, blue looks really dark almost disappearing to the eye - putting the logo centre on red, samwitched by the white.

Gold pinstripes, between gold suspension either end, doesn’t worry me either. Eye of the beholder I guess - need to see it in the flesh to fully appreciate it. Think the same could be said of all the LE models - even the ‘yellow peril”!

Ooops, sorry.

Like I said though, still very special looking.

I’m standing up for yellow Comandos 😡

Seriously though, I don’t mind the yellow LE especially as it has ali forks rather than gold which I’m in agreement with many aren’t to my taste.

Congratulations, a superb looking machine. I saw the LE's at the factory last year and thought they all looked fantastic. I'm tempted with an LE deal but I'm guessing they're all gone now. It's annoying that the deal on the LE's only happened after the other ended, ah well. 961's are not common of course, but you have the satisfaction of knowing that your bike is so exclusive that the chance of coming across an identical bike to yours is next to zero!

Just goes to show that beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

When I saw that Coleman’s Special I just thought “they’ll NEVER sell any o’ them” !!

@ £18999 they never sold any of the LEs hence the deal 😂😂😂
They did sell some, but there’s no question they were overpriced IMO. They’ve all gone now though I believe, as in you can’t order a factory build (but there were a few still in dealers when I was phoning around on Thursday/ Friday of this week).

The colour and the old logo (which I love) harks back, and is a tribute, to the 1902 Energette. Looking at comments on the Youtube video by "Mr Darcy & The Ol' Man", the beauty of the Le Energette seems to be in the eyes of a majority of beholders! (They all look great though).

Darcy & The Old Man, I blow hot and cold with those guys; they need some alternative superlatives beyond “stunning & beautiful”, starts to grate after a while but they got one thing bang on, gold forks🤮

From my talks with dealers recently, I don’t think they sold very many.

Which I guess is a plus point if you’re a collector !

Must’ve sold at least one tho eh… t’ Coleman’s family… 🤣

Indeed, from my own talks they didn't sell many at all- but they sold more than the others! Who are the Coleman family by the way?
