What's happening at Norton? Sale to TVS, massive investment, new bikes...

Yes they won the Senior TT, something Ducati has never done. They also won the British SuperBike in '94.
Your point?
Mv Agusta has won more than any other brand in TT
And same for Honda in the S TT.

I don’t get this bickering of back and forth?

Styling comparison wth Aprilia.

So the Aprilia is in a higher state of tune than the Manx R. On a road bike is that a good thing or not? I'd take the Manx as a road bike, both have more than 200 bhp, not many road riders are going to notice the difference...
100%! No doubt the Manx will be more usable on the road; that’s clearly Norton’s approach. Its likely a genuine stance, maybe tinged with recognition that they can’t really compete with highly developed track alternatives. At least not yet.

I’d take the Norton as a road bike - also on styling. Keep yer wonky wings!!

Description of the spec of the first 150 Manx bikes, from the Norton website - the bikes shown at EICMA.

Suspect they’ll need to drop that spec, especially the full carbon bodywork and carbon wheels to approach the Ducati/Aprilia price range - optional extras maybe. Or they introduce an additional base model as discussed.

Interesting and well balanced assessment of the new Norton’s and Norton’s approach, from Papa Smurf.

His final assessment is much like the majority of us though, seen through the eyes a middle aged guy connected firmly with the classic Norton aesthetic - having one sat in the garage.

He gets Norton’s push is to modernise and innovate though, likely making the modern classic approach incompatible. I’d still be very surprised if they don’t produce a modern classic variant at some stage, the market’s too big to ignore. The Commando? Return of the original logo?

I think these bikes will come into their own (or not) when the test reviews start. When they are seen out in the wilds, parked next to the competition. Maybe the styling (and elements of quality) will show through when compared to the ubiquitous wings’n’aero’n’vents’n’flashes’n’fuss? We’ll see.

Also think Norton may have missed a trick not further displaying other colour palette options more fully - the Manx in black with chrome/silver accents looks much nicer than the plain silver IMO.

This awesome image from the FB site is the perfect reprentation of everything we love about Norton.

It’s also exactly what Norton is trying so very hard to distance itself from! Can’t think of another marque that’s tried this, at any time in motorcycling history?

Their approach is bold (and no doubt calculated). Let’s hope it’s also smart.
