I was in a general search for Commando parts etc when this popped up..clearly not accurate

What was the fastest Norton Motorcycle?
 
Mine started life as a red one...was black when I brought it in ...now Daytona Grey Pearl (Audi)..so not as fast :)

I do too...Wikipedia needs to be edited....but by who?...I got some old school photos of a blue cosworth at brands hatch racing around with a JPS rotary years ago...That would eat the 73 for breakfast :)...

Seems funny to me that the 650ss had a claimed top speed of 120mph with 49 bhp

It really goes to show how inaccurate the data/information is...which needs to be updated by a independent assessor and put the Norton V4 RR & SS in its place 🏁
 
If you are talking about Commandos, it was probably one of the JPN Nortons which Peter Williams rode. A Wiznorton rotary would be quicker than a V4 Aprilia If you watch the videos, the speed diferential with the rotaries are horrendous When bikes are that fast, it becomes silly.

The WizNorton makes nowhhere near the 250+ hp of the V4 Apriia, and wouldn't see them for dust

35 years ago, even with Ron Haslam onboard the full factory race team were lucky to finish 15th, well off the pace of the 500s
