According to the owner, the frame number of the bike I'm looking at is 137515. Is there a reference online that will give me more information about the exact date of manufacture, etc.? Is there a way to determine the original configuration, such as Fastback, Roadster, etc.? what about original factory color? Is that record kept anywhere?

Thanks

I'm not aware of one that will tell you much more than it's from 1970 production? From the number information available in various publications, I'd estimate that it was probably manufactured sometime around the middle of that year?

You will probably have to contact the library and machine dating section of either the UK VMCC, or UK NOC, as they both have access to the Norton factory records.

The factory records are mince, best you will get is month of manufacture. What colour and style of petrol tank it had when it left the factory is lost if it ever existed.

Agreed, this is very much the information I just received from the NOC for my MkIIA, which was OK by me - I just needed the month of manufacture.
The (very helpful) guy couldn't say what colour it was.
