What lube? Assembling ignition lock 03.3044 into ignition master switch 06.6395.

Sorry for the repeat post the one I wanted to tag was locked for replies.

About to push the ignition lock into the body of the ignition master switch and before I do, is there any recommended lubricant I should apply at this point of access?

What lube? Assembling ignition lock 03.3044 into ignition master switch 06.6395.
 
Grafith powder is best it's a dry lube also great for tight keys, when working in a maintenance work shop at a Tec College one of my big jobs was replacing locks and fixing door locks as well installing new ones, powder was the only lube that I used. sprays are no good in locks.
PS I love Herman Munster a few month back watched all the old shows, so funny, my wife was wondering what I was laughing so much when I watch an episode, watch it when I was a kid but this time around you pick up the one liners so funny.

Thank you for the quick reply, I have dry graphite in hand so will use that.

Another quick Q if I might? Is this a viable location for my ignition given a single Mikuni and flat filter above the ignition mount?

Thats it spell check keeps changing the graphite, bugger didn't do it this time lol.

Can't see no problems there, my old 81 Triumph had the key mounted on the dash it had a cap cover when the key was removed and on the key itself had a cover for when the key was in the lock to keep water out, one of the reasons they had a rubber boot over the ignition lock on the side mount ignition.
 
Made this ignition bracket from some plate steel. Borrowed the idea from another member. Also hides the battery nicely.

Knock - I saw your post when searching - really clean. It would probably resolve where to put the TSpark MOSFET unit pretty nicely.

And what thread are those tray nuts anyways? I cannot get either 1/4" 24 or 26 into those threads.
 
How timely . Just received my new 4 position switch (new) , bare , without key tumbler . Apparently this can be removed easily from the old one , through the side hole ( using a drill bit ? ) and refitted to the new switch . About to try it.

Switch to new switch tumbler removal and insert into new switch was successful today . Used Graphite powder as lube.
Used small flashlight to peer down small hole in the side of the body , turned the key until the small brass pin showed up ( one of the 4 key positions as possibilities ) . Then used a straight pick to insert and depress the tiny brass pin and voila , the key with tumbler pulled out easily.
The new switch ( as new out of the box ) was not aligned up to accept the key/tumbler assembly so used a medium screwdriver on the center of the plastic central rotator to move/rotate it into position where the tumbler would accept the insert . Went in with a slight click and all 4 positions are now working great by key turnings . Next is install and test but too cold out here now. 6 C. It will warm up soon.

Lock-Ease has a light liquid vehicle that evaporates quickly leaving the dry graphite powder lube. I have used it for years in all sorts of applications. It has never caused lock tumblers to stick as liquid lubricants are prone to.
