what exact original yellow? (2011)

dear All,
anyone can tell me how to reach the exact original yellow to paint a tank and side panels for a Norton Commando Roadster Year 1973?

Come on someone tell him. I have a 73 (repainted several times) and have been told it is not right. I would love to know. When I took my tank and panels to the painter, I took a Duckworth's book and they tested a picture for color. The color is not dark enough.

Fiat taxi yellow (Giallo) worked for me but maybe a little dark for some. It was close to the yellow gelcoat on one of my side panels though.

I have access to a color computer (X-Rite) and original '72 yellow bodywork - would the spectral data help, if so I can scan an area of a side panel for you. Check with your paint supplier/ painter to see if they can use this, and let me know

In Aircraft theres ' Cub Yellow ' in the U.S. so your Hobby Store should have Big Cans of ' Trainer Yellow ' laquer , just like that .Nice and bright so they dont bump into Ea other . Maybe NVT bought all the Ex M.o.D.

as far as I know, it is stock and original - no evidence of any respray anywhere - decals are a little cracked with age, do these photos help - and let me know how best to send the spectral data of the color (or I could, possibly, given time, match it and ship you a print)

Superb yellow. It's always interesting to see colors under different lights. I had a red/orange 72 240Z that looked absolutely brown under sodium vapor lamps. I couldn't find it in the parking lots sometimes.

what about green for a fastback, is there a reference I could use? cannot believe i got to use pictures etc to try reproduce the right colour...

Theres about eight shades of British Raceing Green , in the old Dulux cattledog / colour chart . Correct ones about sixth from top , or 3rd darkest , but the second darkest looks more subdued and classey .

Cotswold Greens a metalic ( not metal flake ) which'd lok better , if youre into all the chrome and polish trip . A touch of individuality cant do any harm , and youd get the chrome grease nipple brigade upset
at any bike show . This would introduce a sense of proportion as regards the intellectual capeability of bored deranged old farts .

BURGANDY Ones ! There was a bloke signed on four months ago whod got a Roadster with Burgandy paint with Silver Script .

Looked rather classey and subdued . The Olde british understated thing . Gave him a tirade about keeping it there rather than the bl;ack and gold . So pictures or An original if you search ' my posts ' near halfway back .The colours near the 1964
Ford acrylic lacquer colour from 64 Corsairs .

Still recon that Yellows Ex RAF surplous . !
