Went for a nice ride to Niagara on the Lake and back. Sunny 9c , not a speck of snow to be found. January rides are like finding hens teeth in these parts. A lot better than running the snowblower.
' went north and skirted the New Hampshire border along Rt 2 and 119, almost 55 F at peak today with lots of sun and light traffic, I came south on 190, hit the ton and headed home; tomorrow may be a candidate riding day also.
We had an all-time record high for January 4th of 67 on Wednesday. Not bad for January in Nebraska. We might get a 50 degree day in the legandary "mid-January thaw" most years, but 67 was just crazy. Motorcycles were out and about including me.
I thought about it, it was near 60 both yesterday and today, but we had a hard freeze the 2 earlier days and the frost was coming out of the gravel drive and it was muddy. I hates mud.
140 miles today on Commando, about 10 degrees Celcius here in UK. Near disaster as side stand spring came off but noticed just in time and got bungees from garage and lashed it back together. Didn't slow me down
Typical as I checked the side stand before I went out...
Think wind and grip screens then plus hand/feet heat packs for over 20 mile trips as heated wear can stall ya on the slower riding if road wet icy or muddy. This year here iis so mild its going to hurt nature as trees will bloom too soon and animals come out of hibernation then Feb cold waves kill em off to take at least 3 yr to get back to normal. Helps to have the right attitude to face it too.
