I have a 1951 650 plunger A10 and 73 commando 850 lightly tuned, and what a contrast :!: Had a lovely run on the A10 this morning pottering around the countryside for about 1 ½ hrs, total relaxing and easy as eating chocolate cake, lovely friendly old girl and always a pleasure to take out for a run. This afternoon onto the Commando, just letting the clutch out she tries to bite my head off, I have just finished running her in and she just want’s throttle. I have the feeling she doesn’t really want me on her back and just wants to rush off, roaring all the way – fantastic fun just hanging on. What the heck is it, is it simply the fact she produces so much torque all the way through the rev band and just can’t relax or, that I just can’t resist giving her what she wants, GAS :D

I've not ridden a 750, but with the 850 it is a wonderful feeling of big torque coming in low down and pulling right through to the top.
At the same time the engine feels very revvy, it runs very quickly up to it's Max allowable of 7 k.
They are still capable of leaving modern traffic far, far behind.

Is this your engine with the 4S cam in it?

Juup the 4S, I have only actually let her run up to to 5k but pulls amazingly from the word go. The 4S is sweet right through the band, I have it on 16 thou clearance, a bit noisy but bloddy impressive, ok not a modern but the torque and pull all the way through is extremely exciting!!

yes, i have ridden a Goldflash with flat top pistons...pulled lovely...no bother with wanting to be off ..just nice torque. where as my A10 super rocket was less behaived.

I keep thinking about parting with the old girl, but it's not going to happen, the relationship is to sweet. I have a Rep RGS here and a Super Rocket both waiting their turn in the workshop (I have a very soft spot for the A10) but gosh this Commando certainly has got me. :D
