Almost certainly cost. Will be interesting when the guys attending get to ‘feel the quality’ on the 961 at the NEC.I would certainly prefer that Norton castings (cases, barrels, heads) all be made in the UK.
Apparently, this is not possible due either to cost, or inability to find suppliers.
My personal feeling is that Taiwanese castings are acceptable, Red Chinese are not, regardless of price.
If the sourced components for the NEW 961 are shit, we should see failures and malfunctions reported by owners.
Let's wait and see what the owners report.
