I currently have the inner primary case off.

In my parts stash I have a couple of the RGM rubber type seals and a couple of the tin type from AN.

The seal that's in there is a (possibly original) tin type and there is absolutely no sign of leaking.

Should I replace it while I'm in there, or just leave well alone?

Definitely leave alone

I would leave it, and install a 1/16" viton oring on the crank behind the pulley as discussed here.

Well. I guess I am different...
I took my primary inner case off to install an Alton and replaced the crank seal.
On cars, I have had too many times where I wish I had replaced something when things were apart..

If you are of the type that just starts the bike up with mild wetsumping, then I'd go ahead and renew the original seal. Easy job and will piece of mind. My original seal blow in half (not out of crankcase opening...it split along periphery of the "plastic" seal and outer ring)....from a wet sump kick start...first indication there was a problem was oil spraying out the clutch shaft opening on the inner primary and slicking down the rear tire while out riding. Fit a new seal and following advice here used a little epoxy adhesive on the outer ring to help hold it in place.
Now I run an AWS tap with ign disable microswitch. so no more wet sump starts for me.

Well, we can all relax.

As it turned out I guffed up the seal that was in there trying to remove the stubborn woodruff key and so fitted a new seal.

With the option of an RGM (rubber) and an AN (metal) I took the plunge on the RGM version.

Slid over the electricians tape covered crankshaft nicely with a bit of lube & tapped home.
