Welsh 20mph speed limit

Interesting comment but of course 100% incorrect.

The phrase " Taxation without representation" was made famous with the American Revolutionary wars. Against the British king. Not really known for his Marxist political views.

Strangely enough the best known modern examples also come from the USA. The citizens of Puerto Rico and The District of Columbia pay US Federal Tax. But do not have representation in Congress.

So rather than a Marxist agenda the facts seem to show in modern practice it is a USA Republic agenda.

Always pays to check the facts first.
That's because neither one is a state. Both have representation in the house where they are allowed to participate in the deliberative process but not vote on the actual bills. I believe a change to the US constitution would be required to change this. Personally I would rather see term limits ensconced there rather than adding more rubber stamps.

Not to forget the King didn't levy the tax that was and is up to the Houses of P. Which of course is what Charles II had to
agree to in order to get his throne. His dad had issues with that ...

Having read the last few posts I had to check that I really had clicked on the "Welsh 20mph" thread. Thread drift is an amazing thing.
Actually I don't agree. In this case the comments go very much to the ability of citizens to influence the actual behaviour of their elected (or non elected) representatives. Which arguably is in question over these speed limits.

We often has huge thread drifts but I don't think this is one of them.
