I finally got my '75 MKIII on the road. I've taken it for a few short trips to make sure things are working OK. As you probably know I bought this bike from my friend and it hasn't been on the road since the mid 90's and it needed a bunch of stuff replaced to get it road worthy. Unfortunately I'm probably going to have to sell it because it took all my extra cash, plus some to get it going and I have two other projects that have to get finished, kind of bummed because I got it thinking it would be a few simple things to get it running and then I'd have the extra cash to finish my other projects, oh well, we'll see. Anyways, here is a pic of it:

Thanks a ton to everyone on here who helped with my dumb questions!

keep it, always more money to be made later. You probably couldn't get back what you put into it anyway so just enjoy it.

Very nice looking bike. I collected and raced TRIUMPH motorcycles for 30 years, then this spring I purchased a 1973 850 Commando. There is no motorcycle that has the toque, handling and looks like a NORTON. Keep it!

 Kustom, KEEP IT :!: That way, you'll never regret it in the future. You know what's all is fixed & new in your bike. 21 years ago I sold a restored 1949 Model 125 Harley Hummer to fund my Honeymoon and still kicking myself for not getting a loan. You'll miss it if you unload it. Fun to ride a Norton and plenty of compliments go with it. :)

Thanks for the advice all. We'll see, but finances are thin in our household, we'll see what happens.

Pretty easy to under estimate costs when restoring Nortons. If you've never done one before, I find if you at least double your original estimate you'll be in the ballpark. I doubt anyone has over estimated restoration costs.

What other projects do you have that could possibly be better than a Commando. I dare you to list them.

LOL! I'm not touching this one!!

You know, to be honest, if a Commando isn't for you, it isn't for you. If you have to, send it off to someone who does want it. No one is going to cry about it... except you.

Your all to common quote plus swooshe's summary about covers what its like for too many of the rest of us, must have it but strains the seams of rest of life. Its a real tester of will and skill and resources. You obviously got the skill to see er though but if not the love of how a Commando delivers it riding then just another cutie to pass on to someone who does. Just came back from Barber's, to know there's a whole another world of craft to get mired in and Commando's hardly get noticed.

hobot - too Commando brain rotted now to quite quit yet.
But I grantee its sure been on my remaining sane mind.
