I need some help designing some sort of dash or panel for the the warning lights (turn, high beam and charging). Obviously I can't use the headlight shell as you can't really see it. I currently have the headlight switch still on the shell but I might move it to a panel too. Any thoughts? Pictures of examples very welcome. My fabrication skills are, shall we say, limited.

Thanks.

Hi Dave,
I would take a piece of flat aluminum about 1/8 inch thick and cut it to fit in the area between the bars and your instruments. Drill it for the lights and with some spacers use the handlebar pinch bolts to mount it. Oh and of course polish it to a mirror finish before installation. Well thats my two cents worth anyway.

Hi Swoosh. I have one of these fairings with a built in dash of sorts. I can't post pictures here as I'm only using my IPhone these days but if you give me your EMail address I will send pictures of it there.

The Dunstall style fairings had the built in dash. But they also had a different mounting bracket so I don't think it will help. But thanks!

I'll PM you my email address.

Clocks mounted like that look like two breasts pushed together to me, which ain't a bad thing to me ok. I position clocks for best run of the drive cables and on my Cdo that is more spread out as usual. Will ya paint the rusted bar clamps to match tank or fairing?

Instruments need to be like that to clear the fairing. They are mounted to the fairing bracket so they don't turn.

I leave the bracket original to remind me what the bike use to look like.

If he won't paint the tank, he sure won't paint the clamps.

Seems to me if you just make the plate that the clocks are mounted on bigger like the one in the last picture, it would work fine and look great, in black or polished.

Ohh its the fairing fashion that's the limiting factor, then I fully agree must push em close for the better cleavage. [look it up for fun] Just expect vendors to know ya as easy money on cables is, like they did me till only recently and will again as able. If you'd do em up like Skyguys I'd melt away in lust at the simple sweet gleam. I can't allow myself such refinement through so appreciate seeing what I'm missing out on. i think I prefer the non dash mounting as more raw exposed racer than caged cockpit. More noise comes gets through too of course which ain't a bad thing on a Cdo just more worrying to be more aware of hard working head ringadinging like two black smiths beating a rail road track into a bow tie down the hwy.

I've a southerners gut response to swoosh's current decore, one of homeboys half primered love machines that are also missing a few emblems and grill pieces like the drivers teeth because some thing higher priority events stifled plans to finish up the niceties.

With the instrument faces up square / perpendicular , to youe Line Of Sight , you can see the .. dials . :D
Good fixed without the cables putting their thumbs in the steering lock or other traps , to get chewed up
As is often the case , all the devices moveing with the bars is a source of annoyance & chaffing , wrenching
speedometer houseings and dragging throttles ( cables ) . Dont really need the excitement .
Care and attention with the runs full lock should only take a day and a half
They whingeedabout cable ties in one road test . Ideal diposable fasteners .

That PR fairing bracket is a pain.

I'm designing a replacement that could take a simple cut-out of flat fiberglass to serve as a full dash panel, and will allow much better range of motion (maybe full range, not positive yet).

I MUCH prefer the Clubman fairing mount for the Dunstall, Ducati SS and copies/replicas. Well worth the money.

It was obviously designed for racing not posing on the street.

Things can be designed for dual purposes, and actually work quite well at both. I intend to prove that, using my Dunstallized Combat as the test subject.

(and I never accused you of posing)

I'm know you didn't.

The point is that the original PRs were never meant for the street.
