Besides the obvious what are the best ways to reduce weight?

Brembo upgrade ...roughly 10 pounds
520 chain
belt drive

How much weight is lost by using alloy rims instead of stainless?

Other methods?...

Alloy barrels, 11lbs ish, lightweight crank 8lbs ish, junk all the steel bits for ally, light seat, ally tank, mudguards, drill everything, hollow spindles, bolts, forged ally yokes, lightweight hubs............

Rider weight reduction is probably the least costly method and typically involves more weight that can be shaved off the bike.

Plenty of good suggestions so far as far as the bike is concerned.

Not to mention the years added to enjoying life... well OK, eating carrots may not be enjoyable, but riding a Norton surely is

I've heard that ludwig is a big fan of weight reduction. But I've never seen what he's done. Hopefully he'll chime in.

I've seen you mention stuff over on BritBike but never seen it.

Very nice.

Ludwig
superb bike.
Lighten the bike as much as you like but as I have said before its not fair me & my pillion racing against all those ten stone boys!!
My friend is going to contact you directly about through bolting your barrels.
All the best Chris

A lovely bike Ludwig. It's amazing how much weight you've taken off it. It must perform well. Less weight is always better than more horsepower. Much more reliable!

That's a great job. I think I used to run my commando at 370 lbs and thought I'd done great.

Don't later model dirt bike have cush drives in the rear hubs? Seems like a modern 450cc dirt bike rear hub would more that handle a Norton power delivery.

Do you have pictures of the hub in a more disassembled state?

Ludwig,

That is a very interesting wheel adjuster, ver well thought of. (the whole bike looks well thought of :D )

I've been a "good boy" this winter and have reduced the drivers weight by 30 pounds :D
Unfortunately it is not necessarily a permanent weight reduction, the summer is here and that normally equals more beers.
