Weatherpack

So when building the bike I used cheap bullet connectors just to get the electrons flowing in the right direction. We all know how that went... While I don't trust the connectors they did last all summer and I never had a problem. But you could pull them apart with alarmingly little effort.

So I bought a kit and crimper from Amazon. Cost about $60 for both.

The crimps are extremely secure, I gave each a good yank and they didn't budge. Once the weatherpacks are assembled there is no way they are coming apart. And they are weather-proof. And oil-proof. And vibration-proof.

With just a couple 6 ways I covered the handlebar wiring. A couple more on the Boyer. Especially the ground wire.

They are bulky, but they aren't that expensive. And I shouldn't have to worry about the connectors ever again.

I still need a clean solution for the grounding block in the headlight shell.

I would bring up a dedicate line right into the shell and feed it from the ear bolts.

Nice to see you photographically back on line, you have some catching up to do.

Dave, thank for posting that as I am about to start my own rewiring.

A couple questions?

Do these connectors come apart or are they solely designed as permanent wire connections?

And can you show the link or source on Amazon where you purchased the connectors and crimper from?

Thanks!

You can buy the individual connectors but I wanted the kit for some flexibility.

There are crimpers that do it all in one step but they tend to be expensive. For what I was doing it wasn't a big deal. If I was doing a car wiring harness I'd probably spring for the better crimpers.

I will need to refill my kit but I was able to do everything I needed to with this one.

And lastly, the best part is that you can take them apart. In fact I did just that when I did the turn signal harness, I changed it from a 2-way to a 3-way to include a dedicated ground. Using an included tool you can release the wires from the connector and re-insert them as needed.

I have some broken connectors on the Vette that I can also repair now. Double-bonus!
