Hi. 2016 Mk11 sport. looking for some help. In my headlamp bucket I have a loose yellow and black wire. Its a male single pole connector with nowhere to go. Should this be roaming around without a mate??

Ok got the year . NOT Euro 4 .. Now are you sure it is YB ? That is mostly yellow with a black stripe ? Or is it BY , mostly black with a yellow stripe ? BY black/yellow on post 2013 is low fuel light going to speedo cluster. YB yellow/black is not used until Euro4 again and that is called speedo , speed sensor input to speedo cluster . On POST DEC 2013 the speedo sensor input to the cluster is red screened cable. ON PRE DEC 2013 the YB yellow/black un-screened wire was the speedo sensor input .. So maybe NOT USED on your bike ?

Funny you should mention that. Since I changed my headlight bucket, my fuel light has not flickered. I flickered randomly but rarely until my accident. Then it started to flicker wildly after I got the new tank but only first 1/4 tank. Changed the bucket and it doesn't flicker at all. Wondering if I accidentally disconnected it. Thought maybe just shifting the wires around may have stopped the voltage interference. I have the patch kit but did not install it yet.

Thanks for the reply. It is a Y/B mostly yellow with thin black stripe. Its too short to any further than just inside the bucket so will assume its surplus to requirements. Everything is working so will tape it off and leave it be.

My Euro4 Sport has this Y/B loose with the bullet just tucked into a part of the sleeving

Thank you for that Regental, that is exactly what I found. It wasn't insulated and touching the metal of the headlamp bucket. I was searching for a battery drain. I don't think this was the cause but I have now insulated it just in case. I also removed the link wire that kept the headlamp on whilst the handlebar switch was in the off position. This does mean that I will have to remember to switch on lights but I no longer have the low voltage warning show up when I initially turn on the ignition. Time will tell. Mark.
