I thought at some point there was an attempt to track down the owners of the VR880s. I didn't see anything in my initial searches. I think the Cycle World bike is still in Australia? I know there's one in Central Oregon. I met a guy at Barber several years ago with an orange one. If you have one would you mind posting a picture and where you are (state, territory or region is fine). Thanks!

I'll post all of the VR880 photos I have taken over the years. Maybe some of you will claim them.

I still have this bike and enjoy the thrill of its performance .

Notice the second pic shows an additional cross tube between the front down tubes, but doesn't appear to be on the first

Some of them had a cross brace welded in to add rigidity to the downtube length.

This is a bare frame pic I got from somewhere.

I just noticed the inboard linkage for the shifter.
Nicely done.

I wonder if Kenny ever wishes he’d just kept this going?

Cudda had a nice steady business turning out gradually improved 880s not dissimilar to what Matt does.

Cudda also probably saved himself a ton of stress and heartache from the whole 961 debacle.

If you turn out a Kenny bike is it legal what with all the environmental regs and all?

I believe he was getting frustrated with engine failure due to the 880s high state of tune.
He had strengthened crankcase halves but problems persisted.
In hindsight, he could have lowered the tune to near stock and still sold lots of them.

"Most of the parts are still 40 years old, and you can't get rich when stuff breaks, even though it's not your fault"

Those were his words, maybe slightly paraphrased, when I asked him why didn't he pick it back up after selling all the New Norton stuff...

It's when you get into volume that the headache starts. Let say restore 5 bikes a year and as we know there's a high probability that there will be minor issues as they get settled in. 5 is manageable for one person. Now go to 50 or 500. You'd have to scale up the support too.
