VR/360˚ Ride Video

Short ride video from the other day. This one was shot with my 360˚ camera so you can pan around while you watch it. The stabilization is great, pay attention to when I stop and you guys already know how much these Nortons shake at idle, but the image stays still. Anyways, if you can't get out for a ride this might be the closest you can get.

That’s one of the best ride videos I’ve seen, as well as the 360degree bit the audio is really good. Which make & model of camera did you use?

Love where you are idling, the bars are shaking like mad and the video is rock steady. Also cute how it seems to know where north is, have to adjust the view as you round the corners.
Best i can do at the moment is a circuit of the local roads on my mountain bike. It will ultimately improve my Norton's performance as i seem to be shedding the odd kilogram due to actually doing some exercise.

Are you 750 or 850? I've done similar with a little chest strapped Muvi cam (the Chinese may have cr*p eating habits but their technology is ace!) Apart from the 'mono' viewpoint it falls down on sound quality as well, way too much wind noise and too small to add a sound damper without obscuring the lens.. Got to say my Mk3 doesn't shake at idle as much, perhaps the extra weight and that spring damper do their bit. But these films are a great way to bust those 'lockdown' blues.... Thanks for sharing it...

I glad people could enjoy that. I'm hoping to try different mounting options in the future.

I'm using a GoPro Max camera. The sound is very impressive considering that the camera is directly in the wind. My older GoPro 4 isn't like that. I have not tried a newer GoPro aside from the Max to see if they are better. The Max has something like 8 microphones but I haven't played around with 360 sound (which is probably only available with Virtual Reality headsets.

360 video, although it's been around for a few years is still pretty challenging. Editing is still reserved for apps like Premier. File sizes are huge, this one was 32GB and took a day to upload to YouTube.

Both my 850 and 750 make the front wheel bounce at idle. I'm not sure if I've seen a Norton that didn't. I was massively impressed with the image stabilization.

For the raw file, how big is that compared to the edit?

A far cry from when I was doing Quicktime VR and Surround View in the 90s.

The raw file from the camera was only a couple GB. When I exported it to ProRes it went up to 32GB. I obviously need to optimize my workflow.

Quicktime VR was just stills, full 360 video is a whole ‘nother level. It’s 5.6k at its highest res (there are cameras that will do more).

There’s a video of the Mustang on my channel. 1967 convertible. And it’s a project!
