I need to find a new voltage regulator for my 2016 961. Any ideas where to find one, preferably in the US?
Thanks in advance,

Usually a reliable component, why do u need one & how did u test it if u thinks it’s failed ? Just curious

When i stripped my bike down it looked that the sealed battery had been spitting out the vent, corroding various bits, overcharging i guessed. There is a test procedure in the workshop manual which i ran through and my Reg failed. I replaced with one from Ricks which in the limited use it ihas had seems to do the trick.

I have to say, that looks pretty expensive though. As far as I know it’s the same as the reg / rec used on many Honda’s

I'm using the Polaris SH775 regulator with a Shorai 18 battery and no trouble for years. Runs at high 13s to 14 volts.

Beware of fake SH775s, they are more commonly listed than the real Shindengen SH775s. One clue that's been pointed out is no round 'posts' or whatever they are called on the top, and often a very low price. There is a ton written about them on thegsresources.com, a Suzuki GS site - the stator papers part 5 goes into detail. The GS series had lots of charging problems and this is the favored fix, also on Yamaha XS and Kawasaki KZ forums. There is supposedly reputable seller of used ones - PowerSportsNation. I have no direct experience purchasing from them, this is just from comments on various threads on the forum. Polaris used them, and GS guys look to snag a real used one off eBay but it's hit or miss. As is the performance of the fake ones. The OEM Polaris one is part number 4012941. Not cheap!

It's a fake one used on the v4ss.
I went for a used one from a one year old written off Triumph, to fit on my Duc 1098....which was plug and play when used in conjunction with a Triumph patch harness.

This is the Norton supplier, and the 961 part used.

Hi,Stu.

Thanks for the reply.
I always find your Facebook posts helpful!

I will order this, however my 2016MKII has been converted to a lithium ion battery, will it work well?

From Shorai : They are LiFeP04 , Lithium Iron Phosphate

Q. Will a Shorai battery work in my vehicle?

A. The short answer is yes! Shorai batteries are an easy drop-in replacement upgrade. Your vehicle charging system should be working within standard spec (generally that means charging at 13.6-14.4 volts when running), and please use our Battery Finder to select the correct battery for your vehicle. Call us for a recommendation if you don't see your vehicle listed or if you have a custom built motorcycle.

Many owners have fitted lithiums with no problems. Personally, I'm not a huge fan of them....but thats just me being stuck in my ways. What I will say though, measure the charge voltage that your bike is kicking out as they do vary. Some undercharged a little, some slightly over charge.

I am one of those owners .

I am relieved to hear that !

I will measure the charging voltage.
Thanks again.
