Time flies dunnit?
And I’ve been mad busy lately and was kinda dismayed to realise that I hadn’t been out on the 961 for over 5 weeks !
Took it for a very short ride today.
But my point is... after over 5 weeks, and NOT being hooked up to a battery tender, it fired up on the button straight away!
I’m not saying this to gloat! I’m saying it so we all know it is NOT a forgone conclusion that these bikes can’t hold volts.
So if yours is suffering, there has to be a reason.

Good Point . We should all check our current drain when the bike is switched off , like iwilson did. He said he had 10.8ma draw with key off. I will check mine asap. Are you running a shorai battery also ?

Only once did I have a problem starting and I suspect that the previous day, because I was cleaning the wheels and moving the bike, I had the ignition on for a while to stop the tracker going off and this drained the battery. I wonder what the current is with the ignition on? Is someone volunteering to take off the tank put an ammeter in line with the battery?

Yes this is the way. Take off the tank , remove a battery lead , put ammeter in series with key off. Read the draw in ma . All leads on that battery post must come off in the case of the positive which has 2 wires attached and these both must be used in the reading. Or conversely use the negative side which may only have 1 cable attached. Iwilson has done this and his reading was 10.8 ma, MxMartin has done this and his reading was double about 20ma...

Thanks Tony I'll check it out when I get time. I keep the bike on the Shorai charger (Store mode) and found it helps alot but always wondered why it never kept a charge before.
