I have a couple of used 750 heads that I hope to put into service with a couple of builds I am undertaking.

My question is how one determines whether valve seats need to be replaced? This assumes that there is no obvious pitting, gouges etc. Is there a measurement that can be made to determine whether the seat has been previously recut beyond tolerance requiring a new seat?

Ed,
The intake seat will require 3 angles to get a correct seat width.
The exhaust valve -at least two angles.
If cutting the required angles means you hit the aluminum around the seat -then you need new seats. Jim
