V4SV ‘is now available’

I think Norton missed the performance mark on the V4.
They should of upped their game and matched or exceed the competition. It’s less power, more weight, don’t have semi active suspension and cost more.

They mention it was born on the race track, then why not sell it as a race inspired bike. The magic number in todays bikes is 200hp. Performance sells as do performance numbers.

The viewer comments say it all.
For a premium bike, people also want to brag about performance numbers. No selling price.

Only dickheads brag about how much they paid for something.

If it's available then there can't be much demand. Despite the money they have, they have miss judged badly.
Born on the track, failed race school, relegated to the road, outshone by others, except on price.
However, nice looking bike, sounds lovely, but 44K. This price is truly pointless, the profit made per bike will not touch the sides of what they have spent so far, so why not a lower price to sell it, or a far higher price for the Stupidly rich to boast about.

I like the idea of a lower price too.
A loss leader of sorts, to get bikes into the hands of owners, and into the public eye.
Then continue development for power, and other features to match the competition.
The corporate model will have to change to allow a longer period of red ink in the ledger books.

The superlite should of been the first bike they offered out of the gate.
Make a superlite at 185hp.
Basically take the performance numbers from the V4 and apply them to the superlite.
Make it less than 410 pounds
And sell it for $30k of less.

Then offer the V4 at a 200+ hp bike with all the latest technology at a $44k price point.

Yeah, pretty much failed on all counts.

Value - lose to the Japanese
Performance - lose to Ducati/BMW
Exotic - lose to MV Agusta/Bimota

It's a Norton though. I guess they have that going for them

I think you should just buy one Scot… go on… you know you want to…
I thought this all could have handled better than it was. We owners of previous Norton 961's should have been regarded as future owners of their new bikes. I feel let down somehow , or maybe left behind would be a better phrase.

In my mind there is no question about that. I think it’s blindingly obvious that the small group of (previously) loyal Donnington Norton customers would of course contain potential customers of Birmingham Norton, and for many potential products too.

Alienating y’all as they have is a masterclass in how to damage, your early, easy to access, potential customer base.

Here’s a thought! Maybe TVS, a seasoned, multi national automotive manufacturer of some 50 years, with a FY2022 revenue of USD 3.2Bn may just have a plan  !!

Can you believe that plan included hiring Dr Bob and a raft of other marketing/technical professionals, when they could have hired ‘several random Americans’ with a peerless understanding of British motorcycling heritage and current European markets!!? Go figure!

Give us some positivity guys, it’s infectious! People might actually read this popular site, with links to several other popular sites, and want to buy a Norton! That would be a good thing right?

I have nothing to say about Harley Davidson - don’t know shit about the American motorcycle psyche!

Certainly a twin with a supercharger could.
Nice, a Supercharged Superlight.
Gives a new meaning to the term SS.
Garner Norton did intend to build a super duper supercharged Superlight, IIRC it was gonna be £50k which was a bit of a downer. Can’t recall what power claims they made though.

3.2Bn is nowhere near what past owners have, yes, they are now worth 6x that and are still living. Having experience is one thing, the biggest bike they build is 310cc for BMW, multinational - where?
As for a plan, they may well have, but is it the right plan. From what we have seen in the past two and half years, the failure to listen to numerous potential customers, and the bilnkered commitment to the V4, the jury seems to be out on whether it is the correct plan.

They struggled to get 100bhp from it from what I recall. It also didn't live up to its name ie it wasn't light. Looked cool though. I've got pics of the carbon framed bike somewhere... that looked mega cool
I don’t know why I keep telling myself the super light was a 1200. I’m an idiot. I believe I even said in another post it’s a 650.
But for some lame brain reason I keep comparing it to other 1200 cc bikes with 180+hp. Sorry I’m just dumb lol
