Al how do you know your crank is balanced at 72% as in your own words you only put a plug in your crank hole, its just you guessing.
I love to have the money to build a really good 850 motor with one piece crank, all of Jim's goodies, Fullauto head and all the upgrades that are around these days for our motors, but if I don't win lotto it's just a pipe dream to me, be easy to spend $20k+ just on the motor and to only still rev it to 8000rpm safely for quick blast.
I built my hot 850 back in 1980, parts were cheap, machining was cheap and lots of old school experts around to give advice as well machining skills, my motor revs very freely and will keep revving but its knowing how far you can safely do it and when to back off, a cable run taco don't help as so many inaccuracies involved, same as speedo's, I don't rely on none of them but you get to know the feel of your bike and motor and how far you can push it safely.
I don't ride with gloved hands, I like feeling my bike through the handle bars and you can feel when your over doing it.
