What the hell is wrong with people over here!
I can't get my head around the mentality of people panic buying fuel?
I mean what are they doing with it FFS
I feel sorry for all the people that actually need fuel to do their job or get to work or whatever because some moron wants to fill their car up just because they have been panicked into doing so !
It's bad enough we have protesters gluing themselves to the road so that we all insulate our houses !!
Absolutely mental

Absolutely nothing is a substitute for rational thinking and old fashioned common sense.

I must admit to filling my jerry can yesterday with super unleaded, its needed for

Mini Digger (got a 400m track to get ready for winter)
Lawn tractor (last cut to do)
Quad bike (to tow the digger)
Generator (expecting power cuts so need backup)
Norton was empty

The car was 1/2 full so did not bother, once the panic results in full tanks the petrol stations will return to normal and I can fill up then.

Had to go 15 miles for the super unleaded, nearest station with it, but came back to the local station for a new bottle of Calor gas, garage owner confirmed with all the extra demand he was recommissioning his old super unleaded tank shortly. I told him to look at what happened in Germany when E10 was introduced, it last 18 months before being pulled.

if you think this is a problem, just wait till you go 100% renewable.

Kommando, that link is over 10 years old! Be interesting to see what happens with all this E10 when it’s been stored for the next six months, or stored in non ethanol proof containers.

UK fuel madness

Me? Not one to panic. So sent the old lady out to fill her car. She did with 97 octane at that inflated price! I was wiser knowing that this is not an issue.
Filled car with E10 and thence my 5 gallon can half way as the pump ran dry!
All four bikes in the garage were topped of course.
Now I can go up to Exeter tomorrow as scheduled. And out to hants and back first of next week.
Not panic but practical planning. Have run out of patience over the last 18 months with giving up our lives to stay home for no good reason. Now I am looking after myself and the old lady's needs.
An aside: use the train? Sure until they drill you for double fare if you leave before 9:30am. Oh swell just the way to encourage one to use mass transit. We are governed by swine and stupid ones at that.
Rant over.

Its 10 years old as the failed E10 German introduction happened over 10 years ago and is an 'at the time account' as opposed to a later revisionist account sprinkled with fairy dust and unicorn poo ;) .

So why not fill up 'on the day?'
So you have two full cars, four full motorbikes and feel the need to share this.
Smug or what???

Because there is no fuel on sale here now. Sorry all gone. Will it be back to normal in time for my needs? Don't know. Plan
ahead, plan accordingly. In other words, as I said, look our for yourself the government sure isn't going to. You have to go to
the hospital? One of your family has to get there? You had better be prepared.
Smug? Maybe as a laugh but that wasn't the point. The point is we have all followed government guidelines for 18 months and all we get is hosed. Over and over.

Why is there no fuel on sale there now? All of the other 'practical planners', perhaps?

I'm not here to preach from moral high ground, I'm no paragon of virtue and your point of emergencies in rural areas is a point well made, but.... do they really need a choice of motorcycles to get to hospital on?

Many individuals and companies both large and small really struggled to stay afloat during the pandemic, not everyone could access govt. handouts. Now for those relying on transport for their business, along comes another king size PITA..

Again, each to their own, but wasn't there a saying about being part of the solution or part of the problem?

Ride safely, they might have to push the ambulance :)

Personally I need fuel to get to work
No work no pay
No public transport either, well none that's practical anyway
Luckily I have a third of a tank in my car ( diesel )
And I have some fuel in each of my bikes
There's no fuel in the garages around here so I shall pool the petrol from the bikes and use that in one bike until hopefully this blows over
If I could work from home or was retired I'd sit back and let other people get on with it

Restricting opening hours??? That'll make opening hours even more congested, surely?
Yet again our esteemed leaders seem to be thinking about the possibility of forming a discussion group to maybe toss a few ideas about how to come up with a stable door...
Next month we'll think about the horse, possibly... The month after that...

It was just my usual method of fill up the bike on the way home. So all the bikes are always filled. Didn't go out of my way
to top them off. You fill your car on the way home as in the morning you will often see a wait at the pump.
If you live away from a major population area you will always have at least one jerry can of fuel. Today you add in a generator and diesel for that or perhaps propane. Not to forget wood for the stove. Going a few weeks with no power no car can really
get your attention. We haven't discussed no food yet either.
Self reliance is a trait worth cultivating.
