Ugh, not a good day, but no wreck

Dave,

So glad to hear the problem is solved. I somehow missed this post at the beginning but it was an interesting study once I found it.
Last week I finally got the aircleaner on mine. After a year of thinking about it and several tries, i realized that my almost hard as petrified wood sealing boots were the culprit. With a soft, supple set of new ones in hand, I proceeded to place them all the way over the velocity stacks, then insert the filter and then the sealing plate on an angle accompanied by some silicone spray and had it together in 15 mins. It CAN be done!

I read all of the threads and the manual and, having just enough stubbron Dutchman in this Irish carcas, refused to remove the tank and carbs. I now know the drill and could do it in less than 10 min. (with an I.P.A as an incentive upon completion of the task)

Happy to hear it came around,

Tom

P.S. I saw you were running 240 mains. I'm running 220's I thought (read) 220's were correct for the 930's. Mine is running good enough to reinstil fear.

Believe me, I've tried all ways to Sunday to get the air filter on without taking things apart. Since I put the catch bottle on, I have to do it now, there's no way to put the thing on with the carbs on now. I wonder if it's the central oil tank or what, but there is only about 1/2' to 3/4" between the back of the carb and the air plate. I guess I've just accepted the way I do it now and expect to do it that way. It's not that bad.

Yes, my bike came with 106 needle jet and 240 main jet and have seen no necessity to change it. Yes the handbook says 220 and 107. Doubt if it came from the factory like that, someone before me changed it. It's all set up tonight, and tomorrow is supposed to be 70°. I'm feeling a bit better tonight, some days I just seem to get wiped out. Need to go into town in AM but should be back by noon or so and I'll be getting it out for first run this year. Couple of improvements this winter and the little I had it out the other day it felt better than last year. Maybe I should add my improvements to my original Phoenix thread.
