tyre choices

Some of the mounted widths are off.
Tyres on the way for me,2 x 100/90/19's Avons for one Norton and a pair of whitewall Dunlop K177 120/90/18 fronts for the MG.

I measured the Continentals on the 850,110/90/19's but 99 mm wide mounted, you would be scraping the hand grips to use the outer part of the tread since it is near vertical.
The K81 4-10's on the 750 are about the same width mounted.

Durn near vertical eh. That's the main thing of following the manufacturer charts, takes less lean to use more of the tire for longer mileage and a flatter more stable feel on paved turns. By far most will like it like that. On the other hand these supermotord race shops and BMW off road addicts often like the extra tip over of more pinched profile and one famous manufacturer - KTM ? sold em with 140x18" WM3 2.15" rear. Point being if ya can even fit the tire on its not dangerous but does change wear and how stable it feels in leans. Some are just more used to instability so might as well make it easier.

Senility attack!
Here I am touting the advantages of my chosen new WM3 x 18 size flanged alloy rim for the Commando rear. The idea was to use a 4.00 x 18 Roadrider rear, with a 100/90/19 Roadrider front. I put this combo of rims and tires on the Vincent in the spring and it works great on that bike plus the 4.00x 18 is rated for a big load.
It was pointed out above that a WM4 x18 is even better in that it gives even more tire width choices. This is true, however the WM4 was a two month wait at Central wheel last spring.
So I went into the shop today to start in with the changeover. Opened up the box from Central Wheel and there are two lovely new WM3 x19 flanged alloy rims, all punched out for my MK 3 Commando. I couldn't believe it at first. How could they make such a mistake?
Then I remembered deciding that this bike will never get used (by me) for anything but solo riding, so why not stay with the stock sized tires, which seem to handle very well, as noted by others in this thread.
The only change from stock is the slight change in rim width from wm2 to 3, which is now needed for 100/90/19 Avons. 100/90/19 Avons are pretty much the same size as the original supplied tires on the
Mk3s.
I guess the 4.00x18 Roadrider that I just ordered and received for the bike is now spare for the Vincent.
Time to order another 100/90/19 for the rear.
Senile but happy.

Hi again folks:
Well, i have finally fitted the conti radials to my commando and went for a ride yesterday to try them. I chose a bendy road whitch is close to my home and.... I found them unveliavable; the handling has been cleary improved and leave a lot of feedback to the handlebars. I is very dificult for me to explain the feelings as english is not my languagge. But i would heavily recomend commando owners to try them. If someone need more info, just ask me and i would try to explain better.....bye
