I need a new twist grip for my '74 Roadster. I found there is a wide price range for this part. They go from around $15 up to $70 for the same part number (062032). Anyone have a preference on which one to get?

Well the genuine Andover one is only 23 dollars.

Twist Grip Question

Personally, I really like the Amal Twist Grip - the quality and finish is superb, the weight of it and the smooth action makes the whole bike feel lovely when you pull open the throttle!

They are spendy at 76 dollars, but I think worth it!

Twist Grip Question

Comparing your part number to Old Britts web site it appears that you're looking at the Emgo unit. $12.42 from them. At the upper end of the price range is the Amal unit. $70.00 at OB. I have both and the Emgo needed some "adjustments" to make it work as nice as the Amal. One of my Norton friends bought the Emgo and it was perfect. You never can be sure when buying a knock off.Your money and of course, your choice. I'd buy the Amal if it was me.

My Dad was fond of saying "If you buy cheap stuff, you will pay for it twice .... the 2nd time after it fails". This maxim was always quoted when tools were to be purchased.

When one has upwards of $7K in one of these Nortons, do not cheapen the product with an inexpensive knockoff. There are some exceptions, e.g., JCC pistons, which are so cheap, it is hard to believe they are good.

Besides all that, you will always enjoy quality. Treat yourself to it ..... if you don't, who will?

The twist grip is the interface between your heart and the soul of the Norton ..... go for the best!

hey eskasteve,

So I also went to the old britts site and see the emgo grip. How did you find the Amal unit there? British only has them for $77. I may just go there.

When you find the article that you are looking for on Old Britts site in the far right column it will say yes highlighted in red if there is an alternative. Click on it and just like magic you will be taken to another parts menu.
