TVS can Solihull can't??

I have bobbins on both my commando and doni.
Perhaps mine are smaller than others use.

Not an issue on the doni with the megaphones.

The issue with the missing bobbins should be easy to overcome. Just get a length of steel rod and pass it through the spindle. You may need to find a wider stand though. I suppose it may make chain adjustment more of a challenge.

Yes we have issues with them but despite those we fix them and keep going with them shows just how much we love them.

It's just the hot Italian girl friend syndrome.

Good I dea Cliffa ! I use two long thick bolts for this purpose on the Harley . And not to worry the chain is usually adjusted on the side stand , I have it on the paddock stand for chain lubing and storage .

You'll need a bloody long drill bit to begin with though 😂

That’s not a solution to remove the rear tire.

Bulldog makes a stand (like this) that works with a spool and nonspool. It is what we use in the shop. They also make a front one that works as well

Perhaps if there was no Kenny Dreer Norton , there would be no Donington Norton. If there was no Donington Norton , there would be no TVS Norton. And if there was no TVS Norton , we'd all have a bit of emptiness in our hearts longing for a long deceased brand that meant so much to us in days of old. Each stage of Nortons rebirth contributed something and stepped it up a notch or two. My contribution, and yours, has been buying one and staying interested in the progression. I've enjoyed having mine and I've certainly learned alot from all its quirks. Perhaps one day when it's become , once again, a respectable brand we can all look back and have a broader perspective and feel proud of having played an important part in Norton's revival.

Nicely put; agree - 100%.

Only the ends are drilled out, the centre waisted part of the axle bolt is solid.
TVS can Solihull can't??

The axle is drilled about 3 inches in on each side, and the drilled diameter is about 11mm.
Should be more than enough to hold the rear end up safely with bolts, as Tony's photo shows.
Tony, is that your Harley on the stand?

This talk about using the axle on the stand is all good, but that is only good for chain work or getting the rear off the ground. It doesn’t help with wheel removal.

Correct.
But still a useful alternative.
If the rear, or front tire deflates while stored, this stand will protect the bike from falling.

Yes Sir .

Forgot to report back on Paul and his shiny new Norton Birmingham 961. Paul’s already a member of the forum - guess I should have checked:rolleyes:! He is time poor though unfortunately, as he does a lot of online work for the NOC. He engages on the FB site as it’s quickly and easily done from his mobile with FB‘s format. He’ll engage on here when he has a little more time.

I’ll leave it a few months and ask for a brief update on life with the new Norton. Over a hundred of them out there now so no doubt reports will start to filter through.

Haven't said it for a while but can I just mention there is no other bike which looks as good as my 961CR and despite the gremlins I JUST LOVE RIDING IT!

The rather blandly named Pictures thread is a good illustration of owners enjoying and using their bikes: maybe we need a new more positively named thread which shows that owners are getting out there and clocking up miles on these great bikes. Yes we have issues with them but despite those we fix them and keep going with them shows just how much we love them.
Summed up by a mate yesterday after doing the MoT saying "what a peach of a retro machine".
