Just looking at page 49 of the Walridge Catalogue for fresh Norton valve springs Part no. 97-100 and I see a footnote stating : * Can use Triumph spring set Part no. PS104 ( T120/140 (also TR6/TR7 ) on Norton twins (recommended). Anyone know why before I complete this order ?

Interesting observation. Did you ask Walridge if the Triumph spring are the same poundage as per Norton?

there are some differances outer triumph spring is 1mm smaller and inner spring is 3.5mm longer than commando and has more coils

so it may become coil bound when compressed

Maybe you didn't get any responses because no one would consider putting Triumph parts on their Norton? o_O:D

If they’re all part of a kit, I would assume that the spring caps and / or retainers have been designed / modified accordingly to accommodate differences in springs and heads and valves. But, of course, that should be confirmed.

I guess there’s an endless list of what might work if modified accordingly... but personally, I’ll to stick to using parts that were designed for the job at hand. Norton gear in me Norton and Triumph gear in me Triumphs. Simples.

A busy Mike got back to me this morning.
" Norvil use the Triumph springs ( made by Velocette ) PS104 in all their race motors and if we buy Norton springs from Velocette we get the PS104 type in a Norton bag. Also SRM use these same springs in all their 1966 onwards A50/65 rebuilds. Bit of a one size fits all. Not that there is anything wrong with original spec Norton or BSA springs.

Trumpet parts in a Norton..... Kiss the gunner's daughter.... Just funning. It could one day come down to such considerations though, so it does pay to do some research before hand and have the knowledge available.

Well I ordered it in. Walridge will let customers return things no problemo if fit is an issue or quality.

As an aside , I asked Kibblewhite if there is a cheaper way to ship , or if they have a parts dealer in the G.T.A.
