I need at least two clutch plates (57-3709) for Tridents I'm rebuilding. I have a suspicion that Surflex has quit making them. None of the distributors have them, The SurFlex catalog no longer lists them, and the couple that have one want a small fortune. I wrote to a UK company that says they have three to see if they will sell all three for a reasonable price. They are listed for 250% of what Wassell sells them to dealers for but Wassell is out of stock.

If you have a good one you're willing to sell: marshg@gregmarsh.com Would have to be New, NOS, or measured to ensure even wear (the ones I have are unevenly worn due to PO mistakes. Don't have to be SurFlex.

"£79.00EX VAT 10+ in stock

Triple clutch plate UK made in Coventry 7.5mm or 0.295"
These plates are thicker than a standard clutch plate and should give you a slightly lighter feel.

"
Or try 3D Motorcycles (Correction: Richard Darby) as I think the thicker plate could be his.

"Due to covid (at least, so I believe) there has been a shortage of Surflex clutch friction plates, which are manufactured in Italy. Owing to this, I conceived the idea of having the clutch plates manufactured in the UK and also to an improved specification. It is a known fact that the triple clutch can be difficult to set up and also suffer from a heavy action to pull in the lever. Many of us are aware that with a reduced depth from floor of the "basket" to the tops of the side walls, a lighter action can be obtained. This can be achieved by using a friction plate with a greater overall thickness, effectively putting the diaphragm sping under greater tension and so closer to going "over centre", so that those left hands and wrists of yours can have an easier life. These new clutch friction plates are now available, so please contact me at 3D Motorcycles for more information."

Really interesting. If they can ship pretty quick I'll get one to try in on of the bikes I'm finishing and if that goes well buy some to sell in the US. Thanks!

Just got an update that SurFlex is still making them but only in small batches and those are already pre-sold to UK dealers. I'm on the list for the batch after that - probably in 2022. So, by then I'll know if about the thicker ones and probably will be selling them in the US.

Thanks for the help!

Usually the UK eBay shows on the US eBay and I forgot to check L.P. Williams. I guess I should have gone directly to the UK eBay. Anyway, I now have more on order than I need which like like much better than having bikes apart stuck waiting for parts.
