Dya like my new number plate on the Commando?

I figured it'd be the only view a Trident rider gets.

Although I doubt that he'd be able to get close enough to read it...

Had a 'mate' in the 70's with a T160, thought he was hot snot. Never got the better of my knackered old 750/850 Interstate under any circumstances, despite him being much shorter and lighter than me. And he was a very good rider. Just gotta Love Commandos.
Cheers, Martin

you probably have a Trident rider all things being stock and equal by maybe a half a second in the quarter mile

but the Trident would have a higher top speed by a good couple of miles per

just saying, don't get too smug!

Nigel,
As 1 up 3 down says, don't get too smug. Thanks to your advice to go to P&M my 930 O.I.F T160 now has 81 bhp at the rear wheel. As much as I love my 920 Commando it's not going to blow the triple off. ( not sure how that last bit translates into American !?)
Martyn.

Translation is crystal clear on this side of the pond too - couldn't be said any clearer. But what is P&M?

Matt: what is that last pic? And exactly how fun did someone have putting those fuel lines together....

Eddie,

You provocative person, you!

I bought a bog-standard T150 once and was thoroughly underwhelmed by it, although it was pleasant enough.
I also had a Rickman T150 which had a factory-spec 3-1 which was much more the sort of thing, but it went to a guy in Belgium many years ago.

Follow the 'bitsas' link.

I did a black numberplate by reverse cutting a black stencil onto clear perspex then overlaying with silver - it gave a pretty good impression of an embossed numberplate and cost less (apart from the cost of the plotter of course)... not 100% perfect, but I'll know for next time

Anyway you are e Bad Person - strictly speaking the cut-off for black plates was Jan 1 '73, but it wouldn't stop me either ;)

The new cut off date for black & white/silver plates is Jan. 1975 in line with tax exemption
P&M is Peckett & McNabb, frame builders & engine tuners for all things triple. Their 980 race motors make over 100 rwhp. Nice!!

In the UK classic racing scene a few years ago, Norman White would always get the drop on the BSA/Triumph triples off the line but by the half way stage they had him stitched up. Might be down to who has the biggest Kuhunas.

I did a sanity check before I posted and all the info I could find stated a cutoff date of Jan 1 '73 - I'd be more than interested in where your info came from as I've got 3 bikes which would now be eligible.
I looked and couldn't find any :?

Apparently it is so, I wasn't aware of it either.

Vehicles that can display black and silver plates

Since April 2015 vehicles manufactured before 1 January 1975 can display the older style plates. You must:

have applied to DVLA, and
be registered within the ‘historic vehicles’ tax class.

This allows your vehicle to retain its authenticity and be in keeping with its age.

I'm not sure how it allows any vehicle built from 1st Jan 1973 "to retain it's authenticity" or "be in keeping with its age" as that vehicle would've had reflective number plates when first registered? :?

It was mentioned on page 12 of the Dec. 2015 Classic Motorcycle. The issue with Fast Eddies bike on the cover.

Ironically, the link on their website (which I'd already checked) makes no mention!

https://www.gov.uk/displaying-number-plates/rules-number-plates

Furthermore, the 'official document' referenced therein still states Jan '73 :?: :?: :?: :?: :?:

https://www.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/359317/INF104_160914.pdf

Whatever the rationale, I ain't complaining!
Off to see how much Perspex I have lying around...

Another thumbs up for the forum :D

Note that is does say "black and silver".
Nothing about 'black and white' being acceptable? :?

White on black certainly was allowed at the time.

After 1st Jan. '73, it wasn't, for new vehicles, but then neither was silver on black, but now silver on black is acceptable, apparently.
