Hi All
Well, having read a number of positive reviews I have decided to ditch the old Boyer Ignition on my Commando and am awaiting the arrival of a Tri-Spark system from Aussie.
Am presently running on the Lucas capacitor which has three terminals, but got a new 2MC capacitor and this has only two connections! Being electrically illiterate, I am wondering what to do with the extra connection from the harness :? ?

Then again, is there any reason why I can`t go the whole hog and buy the Boyer power box to dispense with the capacitor, rectifier and diodes?.
Your thoughts appreciated.

I fitted a Tri-spark, at the same time ditched all the electronic wizardry and fitted the Boyer power box with the charging warning light connection, easy to fit and does exactly what it says on the tin!
Worthwhile mod in my opinion.

The original 2MC acts as a junction for the Brown/Blue wires, so you must ensure that the Brown/Blue wires that normally connect to the two linked terminals on the 2MC are connected to each other in some way if your new capacitor only has a single negative terminal.

No, none whatsoever.

My Commando guru persuaded me not to change the Boyer for the Tri-Spark but I do like what I hear about them and think when funds allow I'm going to go for it. I've already gone the powerbox route and opted for the single phase approach which belts out plenty of juice for the needs of my '72 Combat.
