A while back I had a problem with the bike going from neutral thru second straight to 3rd, near impossible to find neutral, with the bike running.
I sent Matt @ Colorado Norton Works an e-mail asking for a possible solution. He asked if I had recently worked on the primary, which I had. Probable cause could be to tight of a primary chain. Bingo, fixed. Customer service at it's best. He rebuilt this gearbox 4 yrs.ago. Shifts like a modern bike. Cudo's to Matt Rambo.

Gosh there's almost nothing there but shit and get gleam!
Just how tight did you find the chain cold? Only takes one good hot piano string tight event to tweak the shafts and bushes so they then decay faster than expected. Best to start slack and creep up on hot tension by checking after a run. Then remember how it is when cool to set. Same with drive chain and swing arm arc.

I'd like to see more photos of your bike please, unless I missed them from an earlier thread.

Geez, I hope it shifts better than that. Most "modern" bikes I've ridden have a crunch box. The Commando gearbox shifts like silk. :)

David knows what also spoils me off any other cycle that has even a hint of engine or valve train buzz or any sensation beyond reflex thought into another AMC gear.
Ahhhhhh....
