I had laugh one day when I was at an historic road race meeting. There was a little kid who was with his dad and somebody's 500cc manx norton. He yelled out 'dad, is this the the bike with the RS125 cartiridges in the forks?'

Now that IS funny acotrel......I have six of those truthful little tattle tellers to deal with, standing at the check out line with all of them can be real interesting sometimes  anyway that's one lucky kid since he'll probably get to ride that Manx when he gets older :)

Have you lads over the pond have what we call sleeping police men ? It's a lump of concrete laid across the road/high way ,so when you hit it above 25 mph with a motorcycle the forks smash upwards , delivering an almighty JAR! They are a safety idea !!!! designed to wreck your motor while people on the foot path [sidewalk] watch on.
There was a advert on the the TV...where a child gets up from a 30mph inpact...and say's..."IT's a good job you whern't doing 40! what the driver should be saying is
"What the hell where you doing on the free way to start with"! ..i have a simple rule " i promise not to drive on the foot path .if you promise not walk on the road, simple" we are all happy bunnies!!!
That advert appears just before a big purge on speed traps, this govenment once in a while as the police cracking down on speeders...it's basicly just another stelth tax.
I except 100% the knobs flying through village' at 55-70 in GTI's want a wrist slap...but a honest hard working guy doing 35 in a Top of the range 4X4 that as massive brakes,ABS and huge tyres that can stop on a sixpence...well its just crap...talk to the police about it...they are trained robots ...there was a time when a good copper [state trooper] would give a speeder a bollicking and send you on your way....not any more. 150 mile an hour today means prison! 70 in a thirty, £1000 fine and a ban!

" Ok how far does a pebble dropped fall in 1/100 a sec? "

they go 80 Ft. per sedond .

So if its 3 secods before it hits the bottom , you know itll hurt if you fall of the Cliff . As its 240 ft high .

i'm Newton rusty but travel by gravity is accelerating not constant 80 ft/sec so takes differential equations like Newton developed to calc d/t and why I didn't bother to try it on 1/100 sec d/t figures. In past caving club we used to do pits and cliffs that were hundreds of feet deep and calmed each other explaining after first 250 ft terminal velocity is reached about 130-40 mph. Ski divers in spread eagle fall hit about 120. This assumes not a very humid day as water molecules displace heavier ones so less air resistance when humidity is high.

I know how to take them speed bumps - at good speed so suspension takes it up and best be on extra throttle so front is lightened on the impacts. There's video of Harley rider braking for one about 30 mph and stoppied butt over tea kettle crashed. We had Ozark hwy speed bumps, Armadillo that cars straddle but Armadillo reflexly leap up to be knocked out or killed w/o crushing so if following close behind a double tap on tires can lift bike off surface, so no longer hang behind traffic at night.
