Cobblers ;)There was Snapon back then. I had Britool before I bought Snapon their accuracy was never questioned. Access was always the issue with one of those big old girls and no ratchet in the head made them impossible to use on a lot of old Brits when you needed to torque a head down with a motor in the frame.

Yes, have 1/4 inch screw driver style Britool torque wrench ,having it certified and calibrated (ISO cert) cost more then the purchase price .It is a good reliable tool with repeatable results .

Torque wrenches are notorious for going out of spec. I audit our calibrated equipment for our company, hardly any difference in price between calibration and buying new with cert.
The guys often buy new, but then I often find the old ones on the shelf because the guys can't bring themselves to scrap them.

When I started in the garage 50 yrs ago there was no van and no Snap on that ever came to our garage and we were a main Roots dealer and when we took on the Renault Franchise still no Snap on most of the mechanics I knew used Britool or King Dick, but having said that you can't fault Snap on as I have the said torque Wrench as well.
