I am working on a friends 74 High Rider. When I sold my Commando, the shop manual went with it. Can anyone tell me the torque value for the axels, front and rear. We are putting on new tires.
I am tempted to say: Tighten until it strips, then back-off a quarter turn. That one always got a chuckle from me.
I would add that fastener torque readings are specified for clean, undamaged threads. Many things can affect a fastener's torque reading, which is only a resistance to rotation and can have little relationship to fastener tension.
