Happy Australia Day
Having now been made aware of the significance of this day, I would also like to say the same. Just think of the power of this forum. I live in the US in the Midwest, and I can have adult conversations with some like minded people from different continents. The conversations naturally center around our one sure shared interest (Nortons), but through these exchanges we all learn more about each others customs and lifestyles. You can learn how other people from varied backgrounds deal with some of the same issues that you have and also learn about issues that are unique to them. This is good stuff. Knowledge is good. I really appreciate having the capability of this trans continental communication device at my disposal. Happy Australia Day!

Some of our finest right here.......Just remember, there's a little bit of these guys in all us Aussies

Our Aborigines have their own view of Australia Day, however to most of us the date means nothing of any real significance. Most of us don't know what was involved with the first fleet anyway. Who was Lord Sydney (Tommy Townshend) ? If you can answer that, then we can move on. Same sex marriage and the date of Australia Day are simply distractions from much more important issues.

The minnority in our fair country seem to have more power and will to change things, but the push to change Australia day celabrations are the Greens Party in poltics, they are a bunch of rat bags and are such a small party and they have fooled a few Councils around the country to change the date we celabrate, but it hasn't stopped people in these council areas that have changed the date without the approval of the voters and the majority are still celabrating on our true day 26th January, leave things alone.
We spent the day on Bribie Island with family and friends on the surf side so many 4x4s heading up the beach with the Aussie flags flowing from their 4x4, the place was packed with people having the great Aussie BBQs, kicking the footy around and family cricket matches and the beach was packed with beach games and of course swiming in the great surf we all enjoy, its great being a Aussie and we are all proud of our country and even more so on our special day.
To all the loonies who want to change this great day it won't stop people celabrating on THIS DAY even if they do change it but it won't happen.

A proud Aussie

My riding season is all year round, our summers get to hot to be riding in the day but its bareable if you like sweating, but I like our winter days not to hot and not to cold just right, our winter nights get down to between 10c to a low 6c but our winter days are between 18c to as high as 24c or 26c so not really that cold just perfect really but I do enjoy riding at night in our winters, the bikes really like the cold they run great as long as I keep warm, I have come home a few times after 2am in the wee hours of the morning, my mates think I am crazy but I love it and so does my bikes and the mates that think I am crazy riding in the cold all ride Harlies, really they are all a bunch of girls who have lost the adventure of riding motorcycles when they run the best.

Well you learn something new everyday. A Google search prompted by this thread has done just that for me today.
Enjoy Australia day then!, just as I will continue to acknowledge and enjoy Columbus day as a legitimate holiday here in the US no matter what some might try to call it.

Lets rename the holidays national invasion day that should please the natives, nz has it national day of oppression next week , natives will be out in force yelling how horrible their life has become since being invaded

It’s the same everywhere. Minorities and fanatics. They take turn in England having a go at different historical figures, demanding statures are torn down etc.

Sometimes they may have a point, but most of the time they just being fanatics.

What people have to remember is that things were different in the past. You can’t just historical figure by modern laws and say they broke them.

Fuggin’ nonesense.

Every country has its special day of the year and gives good reason to celabrate our proud day, the natives of the day should forget the past and think of the future, what has been done been done we can't change the wrong doings of the past.
I get on with anyone I meet what ever colour of their skin, there will always be the rat bags and franics who think they have been done wrong in the past, but tell me how many native Australians who are worst off today than in the past, they all get looked after and get more benifts than normal Aussies, yes be proud of your culture and be proud of what this great country has become, no need to change the date to please just a few, we all should be one.
I won't say no more on this, I am just enjoying life and being a proud Aussie.
