TM 40 Pumper Mileage

Topped the tank with 2.75 gallons exactly.

Went for a 103 mile romp. Country roads, 10 miles highway, many stops and starts, 55 to 70 general speed with some downshift passes and poking behind traffic.

Got home to pour off exactly (within a few oz's for you needlers) 1 gallon. This calculates to 58.8 MPH. Not bad for a race bike wannabe.

I have a 15min Gopro video going around some inland lake traffic. It is 1.5 gig's. I have figure out how to reduce to get on youtube.
 
Let me know how you go with the video compression, I need to do the same for some helmet cam footage i took of a track day with my Norton and some footage of the Tauranga Classic Motorcycle Club ride yesterday.

This guy seems to have a round about way. My file has been resuced to 700mb from 1.5 gig. It's uploading to youtube as I write. It appears to be a slow go. We'll see.

Almost 60 mpg is what touring lugging factory Harley riders tell me they get on mostly steady cruise. We need to know your sprocket T count ratio to judge report better. As you've power to spare, might feel even better with taller final drive, as also means can stay in lower gears to higher speeds quicker yet. Congrates on a very successful experiment that should make waves in Norton circles. Too bad it ain't a dual set up as you know them singles just can't flow to keep up : )

Good point.

A am geared a little high, but not much. The RGM belt drive is 1:1.92ish and I have a 20t gearbox sprocket. Although I have good low end grunt, 19t would be just a bit more fun.

Yes, I've read that "theory". Short sited at best. To thine own self be true, for those without dyno's in their workshops.

chuckling with you on carb flow theory and practice surprises. Dang throaty sound that tempts one to feel it roar pulling. I note your following distance as about right for me too, but I generally don't dilly dally on hwy passes. Rode my SuVee650 first time today in over 3 yrs to appreciate its nice quick stable ride again but really have to peddle the gears to keep it over 6-7 grand to match or beat Trixie yet its dyno'd 70 hp definitely not up to factory Combat power band after 90 mph. SV could only pull 90 tops climbing WOT in 6th in places combat feels like in a passing gear instead of 4th. A fella stopped me on a empty bridge to worn of a rattler in a turn, then we both brightened up seeing each's tires- so took off back the way he came on 'Race Track Rd' He was on Suzuki 1200 Bandit or such and said he'd pull 100 in the opens and 60-70 in the 30-40 marked turns. Was fun following in sweepers a ways behind, I never press anyone, then he moved over for the tighter stuff and I got down a good bit harder and left him a mile back , either he was lazy or not as sure of his steed as ole SuVee, which is a dangerous corner cripple compared to Peel. Peel's carb intake will be either a 38mm or 40 mm so very pleased like no one else on this forum to hear how well yours has worked out.
