There is a fella (different forum) that is asking for folk to send him their "un-usable" titles (not just Norton's), to him in England, to use as "display for his man-cave".
My question is - is it possible that he is actually using them somehow to title vehicles there?
I don't know the rules in England.
    Thanks.

Someone was selling a clear Commando title on fleabay for $1500. No bike or even parts, just paper. I would think if there is any value, he wouldn't be so cheeky as to ask for freebies.

Put an item out on your street with a "Free" sign on it and it'll be ignored. Put a pricetag on it and someone will steal it and haul it away.

Too easy to stamp up a new data plate for a Commando frame, to match a title you obtain either free or for any amount...

To currently register an imported motorcycle in the UK you get a dating cert from the owners club using photos of the stampings and the bike, a NOVA certificate to show you have paid the correct import duties and off you go, no need for a overseas title. He may be getting the numbers off the title and then replicating them but you just have to look at US ebay auctions and all the data is there in the photos if you need them. You still have to take photos of the stampings and the complete bike for the dating cert and those NOS stamps are not available which is much harder than having the numbers.

So yes they will look good in his man cave.

Now a V5 (UK title equivalent) is worth a lot more, Norvil paid over £1000 for one so they could then use the data and make one of their 'New' Nortons, but it is illegal to just sell a V5 without the frame or chassis it is for. Having a V5 saves all the dating cert, Nova, MOT etc so it saves time and money.

British people are very controlled by their government ? In Australia, we got a restart - so it is not so bad. But we are getting there.
