Now it's ready to go. But just noticed tire rotation seems backward on the rear tire, an Avon Super Venom. Unless I'm reading this wrong. I imagine the tire is meant to be mounted on either the front OR the back. When rolling forward the tire should be mounted so that the arrow points in the direction of rotation according to whether it's front or rear mounted. But on this bike, the rear tire would roll forward in the direction that says "FRONT". The Avon GP On the front doesn't specify direction for front or rear. Real question is what effect would the wrong direction rotation have for an Avon Super Venom. And, incidentally, what's a good tire pressure for the Venom. It says, "42 PSI cold at max load of 480 lbs. I can find NO pressure specification on the front Avon GP.

If (when) I fit a tyre the wrong way round, I don’t take it off and correct my mistake. I’m not telling you to do as I do though.

Avons Super Venom... how old is that ?

If it’s a universal it should have an arrow showing direction for front fitment and an arrow showing direction for rear fitment.

Ignore the arrow at your own risk!

I don’t know if it effects grip, but in theory the tyre can ‘unwind’ if mounted the wrong way. Highly unlikely in practice though I imagine.

But seriously, old tyres, mounted incorrectly, how much do you want to stack the odds against you?!

Has to do with the Tire carcass and how the plies are assembled.
A front tire pushes on then tire when braking, a rear tire pulls when accelerating.
When reversed, it goes against the engineered assembly.

I would correct it.

Added, If one is rotating a tire from front to rear or vice versa, the rotation should be reversed, as the plies have taken a set.

Great time to get a new set of sneakers for your ride , end of season bargains on tires are just now popping up .... do yourself and family a favour and get a new set !

Just riding around the block for a while. Wanting to see what nuts and bolts start falling off, listening for the odd changes in noises. Hoping I'm not going to be pushing it down a shady street and up the driveway. The Avon Super Venom looks brand new (old new stock?). The Avon GP is obviously older. Not even going out on the interstate. The GP is weather-checked and must be changed.
