I am still loving my Thruxton, had a nice 120 mile blast in the mountains today.

Quick question for modern triumph owners. I found a loose bolt in my swinging arm that was not doing anything. I think it’s something that was left in since they did first service. See pic. Does anyone know what this is for:

Jerry’s Thruxton is as nice as I’ve seen , the Speed Twin has my rapt attention for a while now , just not sure I can do the liquid cooled thing again …. That Thruxton is really, really nice !

I own no modern bikes. I am not unaware of the attraction of a trouble free ride at any speed one chooses as far as time allows. The detail photo of the bobbins thingie also show the unbelievable level of fit and finish as well as technology
on offer.
Yet I soldier on with my relics.....dumb and dumber as I get older.

Some modern bikes tend to push you back to the old bikes. Sportbikes are pretty uncomfortable and generally quite awful in slow traffic. Once you get over the thrill of all that power you are left with mundane things like comfort, turning circle and low speed balance.
The true sport bikes I've ridden fail on all 3.
A standard Commando is much better.

The Thruxton R is a modern high performance bike that is also comfortable and easy to ride in slow traffic or tight spaces, so it does tend to get a lot of use.

On top of that I think they look terrific.
As noted the finish quality of these bikes is very high.
Mine is 7 years old now and still cleans up as new.

The speed ends up extremely high to get a thrill from a modern sports bike

I passed a mid 1920s flat tanker the other day. He was getting his jollies at 40mph. A modern likes to settle in at about 90
on the motorway. You can see the problem.
