Hello,

Can someone please verify for me that this throttle tube is short? It appears that it was cut (badly) by the PO. Any way to lengthen it without having to buy a new one?

Many thanks,

The throttle length should be 4 9/16" long.
Your picture shows and looks like it got hacked off.

I just measured 3 flavors that I have on the shelf and they all are 4 1/2".
Please, Kevin, could you give me a line/source on those grips?

I don't see why it matters at all?

Your grip will go over the throttle tube and it will turn the throttle lifting the carb slides just fine.

Hi FreeRadical.
The length won't matter as long as the grip does not squeeze the handlebar as you squeeze the grip.
To stop the grip slipping on the tube (and give greater grip to handlebar clearance in your case), you may consider using a strip of plaster sanding mesh wrapped around the throttle tube.
Even just a strip of the double-sided grit impregnated mesh will do although I wrap it 1.25 x circumference for ease of grip fitment. This mod means that the handlebar/tube interface can be lubricated without the lube migrating to the grip/tube interface. An added bonus of zero grip slip is that I can now notch the grip flange and mark the throttle housing to use as indicators of throttle opening.
Ta.
