just ordered the new nalas, so i thought i may as well fit a new cable too
picked up a Venhill N01-4-107 ,which is the correct one for my 750 but the cable seems wrong,or else im missing a part of the linkage.Rang them up and double checked the number ,its the correct one.The twist grip end has too much inner/slack and wont adjust up,there was a threaded nut pushed into the twist grip cable enter and the old cables adjuster was at its max ,so I assume im missing a part but I dont know what it is!

heres a picture of the cable and the twist grip

throttle cable problem

hi all
I m missing that cable stop part, but even with that, i think the cable has been made too long by Venhill,Ive spoken to them and they can alter the lenght whilst I wait,so thats no problem , its just a bit of a pain to get over there

With the carbs connected there is a 40mm lenght of loose inner cable going to the twist control

They double checked ive got the right part number as well

stupid questions time -
all the images show an adjuster on the cable - yours does have one, doesn't it?
adjusters on carb top - fully adjusted?
just for the heck of asking, cable is connected to the carb slides, not the 'choke slides'?
last one - slides are all the way down in carb bodies?
have you compared your old cable to the new one - length of 'sheathing' and length of cable propper? are they different?

yes it has a mid point adjuster, even with this wound right out its too long
same with the carb adjusters , i just double checked the cable is in the right carb hole :)
compared to the old cable the inner part left sticking out is long, even though the old cable is overall longer, due to the higher bars i took off, even without that the inner part is at least 2 cm longer than the old one,the old one was fitted with the adjusters right out too-probably because iam missing the throttle stop bit mentioned at the top of this thread
I will be going back with the carb and throttle to get it checked at the venhill factory

These suckers are called FERRULES , theyre great fun to drop on a floor of wood shaveings or grass roadside verges . Recovery tecnique is to close eyes , walk along going O.M.G. ,
STOP and look down straight in front off youre feet . Same as the Timing Cover Oil Pressure Gland / seal . :D

In fact theres pages of nasty little devices HERE . http://images.google.com/search?q=throt ... art=0&sa=N

Now , all discerning motorcyclists of AngloSaxon leanings , particularrly those opperateing twin cable arangements , are useually utilliseing THESE .

Particularly Assembled ones. The two bits thread together , giving a in line mid cable fine setting facility . Usually adjacent a frame tube ( backbone in this case )
on a Straight Run ,
Taped past ends to frame tube
for friction free consistant opperation .

Apparently these suckers have all sorts of things .

Someting like this ,

throttle cable problem

But like a 50s Triumph , without all the screwthreads . Can be usefull on some bars .To stop the cables catching in branches and small children , wolves and forign matter .
Or for low frition carb entry under a big flat wide tank , like on a Featherbed Frame .
