Hi Norton addicted,

my 10 years old boyer powerbox failed a few days ago, my old stator wiring is badly worned and difficoult to repair, so I've just bought a Lucas stator RM24 three phase 12V and a Podtronics Regulator/Rectifer three phase solid state 240w, thinking to switch my black Roadster Commando to a three phase recharge system.
I've a question:
my old powerbox was the type 166 with charging light control,
switching to three phase with the podtronics regulator can I keep the warning light assimilator wired or not?
please advice, I would like to know if the podtronics 3 phase is compatible with the assimilator or I could cause any damage keeping the warning light operative.

Regards
Mario

Yes, it works, although the warning light goes off a little later in the rev range, as you are monitoring only a third of the stator's output.

The wiring diagram for this setup can be a little hard to find.
Prepare for the usual comments about ditching the assimilator and installing a voltage sensitive LED indicator light.

Fits right between the turn indicator warning light and the light switch on a MK II

The original charge indicator light can now be used for an oil pressure light.

To further the relevance of my experience, I was running a 3 phase stator and Podtronics reg/rec with the non-functioning assimilator/charge warning light.

Switching to the voltage monitoring LED was simple.

I have since upgraded to Shindegen SH775 reg/rec with even better results over the Podtronics,
