Impressive as BMW are, DYK that they still liked to cut corners on their engines?
No idea if they still do it, but on their old Boxes and their cars, they made their engine poppet valves in TWO pieces, welding the stem to the tulip head and called that German engineering.
Hench the slogan " Vorsprung durch Technik" !
 
Maybe be its a local ting but yeah its a YouTube vid so i'm sure you'll find it...

I was just impressed by the scale out completed Bike output figures !!

Vorsprung durch technik . is actually from Audi, nought to do with BMW.
my brother in law is in the top 50 management with Audi in Ingolstadt.
have also been to their private museum there .pretty impressive stuff and also quite few motorcycles, DSW etc.
 
Thanks for the input, I was trying to think of something German, but that was all I could come up with. BTW, don't u mean DKW ?
 
My Dad, son of Joe Craig, said the Works Norton Team used to disparagingly say that NSU stood for "Norton Spares Used" as apparently a number of Works Norton technicians "defected" to NSU.
Factual? Don't know, but mildly amusing.

BTY, again, my name has a "h" in the middle, don't know why, but that's wot my parents decided upon. I've heard of Bernhard Langer , but no it wasn't after him apparently.
 
I always thought NSU was short for “No Sodding Use” especially when applied to this model

sorry about that Bernhard obviously paying attention and spelling are not one of my forte´s . 8)
Will be in Ingolstadt this coming june ,can take some photos if you like ?
