Hey Art I went though this when a ballast let the smoke out but caught in time before paint fire spread to wire insulation. There are 1000's of ballasts in a bin in the shops of 1000's of electronic ignition users so likely a bunch will ping you offering for good will and shipping only. If not got one on the way by Monday when foiks return to work stations try the wanted section in main area. I got a spare now that way for my plain Jane '72 Trixie If ya do go electro i'd like 1st refusal on the AAU.

Just had look on RGM Motors new website they want £12.95 plus VAT (which I don't think you pay if your not in Britain) an then postage cost. YES I know that will run bill up if you are in the US. but just sending this to show you what we would pay. I have a Foyer like so many others an it works just fine even tho its one of the every first type an is over 30 years old!!!!

That a Boyer ignition dam smart phone predictive spelling thing making me looks silly again. I don't need a phone for that I can do it on my own without to much trouble :-)

Ballast resistors were used on almost all cars prior to electronic ignitions. They are not hard to find. The Commando resistor is supposed to test out at 1.8 to 2 ohms but I suspect that the very popular automotive resistor of 1.6 ohms would be fine. I would grab my volt-ohm meter and head over to the NAPA store.

I may still have my old Mark III resistor; they are made redundant when you convert to electronic ignition.

I did find a ballast resistor that was made for Chrysler cars, same Ohms as the Nortons' , $4.00 +tax. However, I just ordered the Tri-spark system along with the coils from CNW. I think this is the best solution for me just to make it easier on my 69 year old knees. I put a Thorspark ignition on my Atlas and turned it into a one-kick machine. Electronic ignitions are the only way to go IMO.

Of course the Aliens can come down and zap out our puny electricity ideas at any moment.
