Just not using it and it's stood on the drive with a cover on it .

It's a brilliant bike for long trips but every time I go out I almost always get on the Commando. Should I sell the BMW R1200GS? :D

FF,

If I ever make it over to Old Blighty, we’ll head to the local pub and I’ll buy :D .

.

I don't want it.
Already got a BMW that I hardly use 'cause of the Nortons.

Yep.

Yep, modern bikes are just too big and heavy and complicated. Too hard to maintain. Who wants that?

So yeah, I say sell it and get another Norton or two! :D

Don't you ride a Ducati? Thought I'd seen one mentioned. I usually keep something modern around. Not the same thing, and I never get that attached to them.

Oh yeah, I have one - a GT1000. For a modern bike, it's smaller, lighter, and less complex than average. Weighs about the same as the Norton. No tupperware. Air cooled, two valves per cylinder. Fairly easy to work on, other than the desmo valvetrain. Fun to ride, like a Norton Commando on steroids. Doesn't have the soul of a Commando though. If I had to choose between them, the Ducati would go and the Norton would stay.

My K1200RS performs outrangeously and is a blast to ride, and is low imaintenance like my cars. Good for long trips too. I agree with Debby though, it doens't have tthe soul or give you the same basic thrill as a Commando. And you can't work on a modern bike like you can a classic, which means you can't develop the same connection. I'll always have a modern sport bike becasue it has its place, but the Commando and I are partners to the end.

BMW R1100RT parked on the street for the longer voyages.Crazy Combat parked beside it for in city and outskirts, a combo that works well for me.

Got a Yamaha FJ for those long trips. It is setting in my Garage with 1/8 inch of dust, a dead battery and plugged up carbs. Norton is ready though! Jim
