I was going to simply ship my Fullauto straight off to Jim Comstock unopened but it was too much of a temptation. The box it comes in is in itself a work of art and must be worth a bit on its own. But what a beautiful looking Commando head. I've never seen anything like it. Obvious where the expense lies in its production. Ken has spent years on its creation and now I believe is working on other Commando offerings. Congratulations Ken for your efforts and time. Jim Comstock also has a lot to do with the creation of the Fullauto. Genuine experts like these folk keep our Commando passions secure.

Off the bat, I phoned UPS for a freight quote and was horrified. Ken advised normal mail channels about one fifth UPS so repacked in it's special box, off it flies to Colorado tomorrow. Flying Heads? Well, it beats Talking Heads, though I love their music.

I'm fairly certain the FullAuto head will not look like that in 42 years.
It is made out of proper material and using advanced machining processes.

That is truly a piece of mechanical artwork.

I can't wait to see the aluminum barrels materialize.

You would think for $3000 it would come with some hardware even if loose.

Not all Norton parts get a hard life.
This RH1 I got from the UK is an example.

Same for this one from the USA.

They are indeed things of great beauty ,I can only look in awe and longing.
I think my head has been condemned at some point it has a big C stamped on it.

$2675 in Australia for a Fullauto.

What performance work has been done on your RH1?

If you are sending Jim Comstock 100 PM's a day not much.

So you are paying for a head with no R&D behind it. What are we comparing here?
Do you think R&D comes for nothing?
Perhaps you should ask Jim about what discussions I've had with him, and how many. You make assumptions that are unfounded and completely wrong.
Why am I not surprised?

Nice. Any way to get them looking nearly as nice without pulling the head?

A (wood handle) brass bristle wire brush (Bunnings ?) will do a reasonable job as will 00000 wire wool and kerosene or WD40.
The brushes come in both fine and a coarser bristle, the finer having the lower life span.
I will add some pics later.

You asked a question.
What performance work has been done on your RH1?

I replied.
If you are sending Jim Comstock 100 PM's a day not much.

You then replied with some gobbly gook either due to PUI or being elderly and from the country or a combination of all.

The second head in the pictures was purchased on USA eBay by me, the seller shipped it to Jim Comstock who is refurbishing it.
Since you like to post about sending every thing from heads to engines to Mr Comstock then not sending them then sending them day in week out that kind of suggests that your PMing might hold up the head I am having done.
Savvy ?

FYI
The head is getting the usual Kibblewhite valves and guides along with head stud inserts and exhaust thread inserts even though they were in usable condition.
In other words it will get the attention it needs to make it a reliable and happy part, I have no need of performance gains only a blueprinted 750 engine that will run to its best in the spirit of the original small port Commando.

What pictures?
I got exactly what you were suggesting. And advised you were wrong re PM's. Have you got a chip on your shoulder or something?

The Fullauto head can be bolted straight on as is if you want. Jim makes minor changes if you want them. My question was what work had been done on this R1 head you talk of prior to your purchase as relating to the cost of it. If you bothered to follow the changing situation for me you would understand why only my Fullauto is going to Jim. I've ended up with a purchased Roadster already with a rebuilt engine. Do you savvy??

You are waffling again and on a Worldwide website.
Try and stay focused, remember you elected to devote a thread to opening a box, that being a box holding a cylinder head that cost you close to $3000 that remained unopened for weeks after its delivery.
Have you ordered the Rotrex and TTI transmission yet.

you expect any thing different from facebook-phil?

The box remained unopened because I had forgotten that I had bought it. Things get a bit foggy at my age, as you will discover in four years time. Why don't you make yourself useful and explain to me how I get this thing back in its box? I knew there was a reason I didn't take it out in the first place.

Don't provoke him any further or he'll start talking about his Sunbeam seat again.

I've ordered the FCR35's from Matt at CNW. He says they sell so fast he is out of stock until mid July. I should have the Fullauto back in its box by then. I'm tempted to order a set for the Fastback as well, which will also be fitted with a Comstock worked Fullauto. I should have realised having two Commandos meant buying everything twice. You didn't tell me about this dilemma!

Phil, I'm not taking sides with either of you in this 'handbags at dawn' duel!

But Timewarp had you there, in fact, with humour like that, he could almost... I said almost... be promoted to the title of 'Honorary Englishman" !!

A "Comstock worked Fullauto" eh? I'm currently trying hard to decide whether to go with Jims 'full works' on my RH10... or keep the RH10 as is and go for the full monty ... a Comstock worked Fullauto.

If I were a bit poorer it'd be a no-brainer... If I were a bit richer it'd be a no-brainer... :| !!
