The One Motorcycle Show 2012

I went last year for the first time (I think they only had one show before last year) and it was pretty cool. A lot of very interesting bikes and a lot of very interesting people. It's in a different place this year.

I wish my bike was more finished, so maybe next year they'll take it.

For those who haven't been it's a lot of vintage and custom. And a lot of PBR.

There's some awfully nice bikes there.

Really? Compared to what, Barbers? How hard is it to see common production European motorcycles like this when you want to? Every one-horse town has a bike shop or collector near by with this stuff lying around. Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.

The guy next to the blue BSA has such a collection. He just brings out a different bike to each event.

But this show isn't about the bikes as much as it is the artists who build them. And being Portland there is a wide variety, from the Jap bobber builder to the restorer. But that's what make it interesting.

SHHHHHHHH!!!!

He's asleep because his garage is full of way nicer bikes.

Does anyone know what fairing is on this bike?

The One Motorcycle Show 2012

Is that a Ducati 900 SS (1977-80) fairing?

The One Motorcycle Show 2012

thx

It's quite likely a replica SS from Clubman or Airtech.

It could be, or an British/European one from the ‘70s.
Dunstall, Curley,Gus Kuhn spring to mind.
Headlight appears to be held in place in fairing with 3 screws and specially moulded fibre-glass h/light section.

From that side view, the screw/bolt at the front could just as well be for the main mount, with an internal headlight bracket; too hard to tell.

No, it's from Glass from the Past. http://caferacingparts.com/

They have several different fairings. I can't remember which one exactly it is. The seat and tank are modified as the owner is, ahem, vertically challenged. The tank was shorted by a couple inches. The seat was also customized to move it forward. It's a beautiful bike and I can't wait to see it in person again.

Thanks guys - I will contact them and see what one it is.

Pretty sure it's this one:

Norton fairing part# NORHFA is the racing version of the Norton Commando Production Racer fairing also known as the "Yellow Peril" fairing. $350 w/windscreen

The list of Glass from the Past parts used on Mike's Commando:
Fairing - Dunstall GT replica. (Not a Ducati 750/900SS fairing, but an acurate Dunstall replica) GFTP part #DUNHFA
Tank - Dunstall/Norton Production Racer hybrid. Same basic shape as the NPR, but 3 inches shorter in length. GFTP part #NORFTA
Seat - Mike originally custom designed the seat for this bike and GFTP reproduces it. GFTP part #NORBTD
Sidecovers - Mike redesigned the top angle of these side covers to get rid of the typical Commando "tail down" look. The top edges are now paralell with the ground. GFTP part #NORSCB
Primary cover - Replica of the standard item for use with primary belt drives. GFTP part #NORPRI
Front fender - Ducati singles racing fender. GFTP part #DUCFDRB

Cheers, Bret @ GFTP

How about compared to what's in YOUR garage?

I have owned and ridden most of these in the past half century, so if I was going to spend my time to go look at a motorcycle it would have to be something more interesting than another impractical chopper, a model, or a common production machine, that is all I was saying. On top of that I am not a fan of bike shows in particular, they are too full of people that think they are special because of what they own and their groupies, and people that think most bikes are a lot more special than they are.

I have always endeavored to spend my time alone with "the grumpy old bloke out in the hills that knows how to fix real motorcycles" rather than a bunch of needy people worshiping false gods.

At least you can admit you are the grumpy old man.
