p.s. NOTE ; the chains were the security system in N.Z. , late 70s early 80s .Though only time Im aware of attempt I was on the Triumph   .Would run a comfortable 8.000 so looking back most of a mile off the proponents hadnt got a
quarter mile, though Id blown both light beams , 1st & 2nd gear with the H.D. alternator hooked direct to the Lights .

Along a causeway in the mist one night the high beam punched straight through the fog , like a Trains headlamp . :D

Nice pics Matt,

That first bike would never win the Pebble Beach Concouse de'Elegance, it's got the wrong type of mud on it

Bloke bought it to restore . :( . Id got it like that , while building the Commando .
A set of the real BSA ' western ' ? bars was all it neeced .  .
Actually think the thing was happier like that than with all the stuff draped over it.
At the Car Clubs 1/4 mile timed sprint , it matched the original performance figures,
16.9 @ 81 I think .

Nice pictures, great little history trip & I think your right, any bike is happier being ridden then sitting in a Mausaleum... Thanks.
